Refinishing

1930's Walnut Cabinet on Stand

The cabinet suffered severe water exposure. The veneer was delaminated throughout. The painted surface was lifted and peeling. The cabinet has several types of wood; primary walnut with a string inlay with an oval medallion. We fully restored and refinished the cabinet both interior with two shelves and exterior in an old world distressed walnut finish. We retained the antiqued silver hardware. The cabinet required dis-assembly and the components were repaired, re-glued and laminated. We removed the painted finish by hand to expose the natural wood. The wood was hand sanded. We did not use commercial sanders. We shimmed the cracks and splits with wood shaped to match the profiles. We stained, accented and finished the cabinet in a hand rubbed and waxed satin, semi gloss luster.
